This board plays a very important role in the art of the artist. After all, the main thing in painting is the language of colors and their combinations, and all the transformations of colors occur on the palette.
How many flowers do you know? Probably a lot. Some of them you won’t even be able to name right away. What do you call a color that is blue, green, and blue at the same time? Such is the water in the lake. And the amazing color in which the thistle flower is painted? Pink, purple, purple, or maybe red? And the color that the asphalt casts after the rain? What about the color of the sky at dusk?
It is difficult to immediately imagine all the colors and shades that exist in nature. But just as any melody – from a simple song that you whistle to the most complex SYMPHONY – consists of seven basic sounds, NOT , so all the most complex colors and shades are made up of seven primary colors. You know them – these are the colors of the rainbow, the colors of the SPECTRA .
Red is a fighting, cheerful, perky, sometimes formidable color. The color of banners, the color of fire, the color of blood – red is very important for the artist. The greatest master of red is considered the great Dutch artist The blue color is more calm and restrained – the color of the evening sky and the sea.
Blue is a relative of blue, but it is lighter and brighter. If you miss the blue sky, look at LEVITAN ‘s painting “March”. You rarely find such a melodious pure blue as the blue of the sky and snow in this picture. And the famous French artist Pablo Picasso created many paintings based on combinations of blue tones. These canvases are called blue.
The masters of rendering golden yellow were the old Dutch masters. They knew how to write a golden candlestick in such a way that you feel the cold, hardness and heaviness of the metal, as if holding a candlestick in your hands.
The artist has few primary colors. He picks up a palette, a brush and begins a difficult and exciting work. The colors that appear on the palette you will not find in the paint box. The artist once saw these colors himself in nature or in the subject that he paints, and now he re-creates them on the palette, combining and mixing paints. It is very difficult.
When, looking at the picture, you feel the breath of frost or you are transported to another country and era, remember that all these miracles began from the moment when the artist picked up a palette.
And if you hear or read somewhere about an artist that “he has a rich palette”, know that he owns all the riches of colors. This means that the bluish transparency of water running on the stones of the shore, and the golden velvety of peach, and the thick blue of the southern night, and many other colors that he saw in life, appear on his palette and live in his paintings.
